David Beckmann joins ART GP for 2019 FIA Formula 3

German racing driver, David Beckmann has been confirmed to ART Grand Prix 2019 line up, as the team enters its first year of the new FIA Formula 3 Championship. With 6 driver titles and 8 team championship titles to their name in GP3 Series, the team are poised to continue their success as the series evolves into Formula 3 for the 2019 season. Impressing the team with his on-track talents, David will be at the forefront of their campaign.

Following a strong karting background in the European and World CIK-FIA karting championships, David made his debut in single-seaters back in 2015 in the ADAC F4 and Italian F4 categories where he achieved a remarkable total of 4 wins and 11 podium finishes. Further placing as the best rookie in the ADAC championship.

Refining his racecraft in the FIA F3 Championship in 2016/17, 2018 saw David make the switch to GP3 Series. Consistently challenging at the sharp end of the grid, David’s strong debut season saw him claim 3 victories, 4 podiums, 2 pole positions, to end the season 5th in the overall standings.

With positive momentum, he’s poised to challenge for strong results in 2019, when he lines up on the grid for the inaugural FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Speaking ahead of the 2019 season, David Beckmann:
“I am proud and honoured to be able to race with such a successful and historical team! We worked together already in Abu Dhabi and everything went smooth. It felt immediately warm and familiar. The work was very professional and precise and I really like this approach because I too am a person who tries to improve in every aspects, every details. That’s why it gives me good confidence to achieve very good results with ART”.

Sébastien Philippe (CEO ART Grand Prix):
“David was ART Grand Prix's toughest opponent in the second half of the GP3 season, where he scored more points than any other driver. He made a name for himself with his speed over the course of a lap and his combativeness during races. ART Grand Prix also greatly appreciated his attitude and his technical background during the post-season tests. This initial collaboration reinforced our idea to join forces in Formula 3 in 2019 with the ambition to become the first champions in the history of the discipline. His sporting qualities and experience will be major assets in this brand-new championship, where he will become immediately effective with the new car”.
